Jeanne & Jim Rose then

Jim Rose’s dad worked as a coal miner so Jim grew up helping out on the family farm in rural Kentucky. It was hard work; they had no water or electricity.

Jeanne was born in Dickson, IL, and came to Bremerton, WA, when she was four years old.

Jim was in the Navy on the USS West Virginia when it was severely damaged at Pearl Harbor. The ship went to Bremerton where it was repaired.

Jim and Jeanne were married April 12, 1947, and have three sons and three daughters, ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. They raised their family in Kent, WA.

Jeanne & Jim Rose now

After the Navy, Jim worked at Northern Pacific Railroad for three years then became an AT&T repairman where he retired. They moved to Moses Lake, WA, and were very involved in church activities. Jim became a master gardener and Jeanne learned oil painting. They had a camper and liked to travel to places like California, Arizona, and Kentucky—with many stops along the way.

Now Jim lives in Weatherly Inn’s memory care community and Jeanne lives in our assisted living community. Every day Jeanne takes the elevator and visits Jim, bringing him a piece of candy.
