About Weatherly Inn | Family-Owned and Locally-Operated Senior Living

Alex Bunn practically grew up at Weatherly Inn—working in construction, landscaping, groundskeeping, and activities. After graduating from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA, he returned to manage Weatherly Inn Tacoma in 1999, transitioned to also overseeing Weatherly Inn Lake Meridian in 2012, and built Weatherly Inn Renton in 2023. Today, he leads the charge in setting company vision and developing the Weatherly Inn brand. Alex has this to say about the company: “Leading Weatherly Inn involves a great mix of challenging responsibilities and interesting people. It is a true pleasure to guide our communities to the high standard people recognize, expect, and in which we take pride. We have a long legacy of making a significant difference in the lives of others in an uniquely dignified setting. When you are in our buildings, you can feel a difference; we do things just a little differently than most. Senior living requires constant attention, a strong work ethic, and a top notch team–and we have the best.” When he has a chance to get away, Alex enjoys running, photography, traveling with his family, and classic cars.

Nancy Munro was professionally trained as a dental hygienist and worked in the field for several years before she started working alongside her parents in the many senior living communities they built. She opened her first design business, Lee’s Interiors (Lee being her middle name), and provided her skill with interiors to make the communities into homes for seniors. Later, she opened Nantucket Antiques in the historic 1918 Hotel Olympian Building in downtown Olympia, WA. When she and Dr. Larry Bunn built their first Weatherly Inn in Tacoma in 1989, she decorated the senior living community with antiques from her inventory, closing the shop to focus on raising her family of five children and venturing into other businesses and investments. Over the years, she has had her hand in numerous commercial and residential design projects, both from the ground up and remodels. She and Larry, along with their grown children, built Weatherly Inn Lake Meridian in 1999 and Weatherly Inn in Renton in 2023. Nancy’s style is all her own. It is at once vintage yet fresh; elegant yet approachable; country but not shabby. She can create something dramatic and subtle at the same time. With her ability to mix antiques with modernity, it is hard to describe yet easy to feel when you have entered into one of her signature masterpieces, each unique yet recognizably and unmistakably the work of Nancy Munro.

Larry was born and raised in Billings, MT, and is a graduate of Loma Linda University Dental School in Loma Linda, CA. He worked as a dentist for over twenty years, starting with service in the US Air Force at Joint Base Andrews during the Vietnam War and ending with a long-time practice in Centralia, WA. Larry and Nancy built their first Weatherly Inn in Tacoma in 1989, under Bunn Construction. Larry oversaw design and the building of the community including its later expansion, functioning as the first General Manager and continued on as our Managing Partner for over twenty years. Larry and Nancy had their hands in numerous commercial and residential projects over four decades. Through their unique design and building talent, their projects have a unique flavor, and the influence can be seen in many homes and commercial buildings. Weatherly Inn at Lake Meridian opened in 1999 and Weatherly Inn in Renton in 2023. Larry’s keen sense of location, design, construction, and development of key personnel can be felt to this day. While Larry has handed over daily operations to his son, Alex, he remains a primary investor and spiritual influence in Weatherly Inn and its commitment to the core values that drive our communities forward. Larry’s passions are family, his ties to the American West, music, and his Christian faith.

Dr. Jeffrey D. Bunn graduated from Loma Linda University Medical School in California and then completed his Otolaryngology residency at Loma Linda. In 2001, he completed a Head and Neck Surgical Oncology fellowship with microvascular reconstruction training at Indiana University in Indianapolis, IN. Dr. Jeffrey Bunn and his wife, Dr. Tami Bunn, are both natives of Washington. Dr. Jeff Bunn has been a partner in the Spokane Ear Nose and Throat Clinic and Surgery Center since 2002. His specialty is the treatment of head and neck cancers and other tumors. In addition, he practices general otolaryngology, pediatric otolaryngology, thyroid and parathyroid problems, and the treatment of voice issues. Dr. Bunn is board certified in Otolaryngology and a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Jeff is the eldest son of Nancy Munro and Larry R. Bunn, DDS, and he and Tami are active owners in Weatherly Inn Lake Meridian and Weatherly Inn Renton.

Bryan Pontius, born and raised in Olympia, WA, earned his degree in Communication Studies and Administrative Management from Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA. After spending a dozen years in the Southwest, gaining experience in business ownership, education, and non-profit work, Bryan and his family returned to the Pacific Northwest in 2013 to manage Weatherly Inn Lake Meridian. In 2017, he was promoted to manage our larger community, Weatherly Inn Tacoma. In 2020, he was promoted to Vice President of Operations, overseeing all our locations, including Weatherly Inn Renton in 2023. Bryan is exceptional at balancing the relational aspect of senior living while maintaining a keen business sense. His current role requires him to wear many hats and to switch between them at a moment’s notice. He enjoys the variety his duties bring, and he finds fulfillment in leading others to reach beyond themselves to advocate for seniors and their health and wellbeing. When he has free time, Bryan enjoys playing board games with his family, golfing, or enjoying a handcrafted beverage at one of the many local microbreweries.

Milcah Agaba was borned and raised in Kampala, Uganda, moved to the United States in 2001, and now makes her home in Puyallup, WA. She graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Bates Technical College, earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Pacific Lutheran University, and earned her Master of Nursing Leadership and Management degree from Western Governors University. Milcah came to Weatherly Inn as our Health Services Director in 2018. She oversees the nursing and care staff at all three communities: reviewing all nursing documentation and each resident Negotiated Service Agreement; tracking trends; and making continuous quality improvement recommendations. Milcah plays an integral role in recruiting, hiring, and training our nursing staff. In addition, She also works closely with the Medical Directors (house physicians), external health care providers, and emergency medical services. Milcah keeps our systems for electronic Medication Administration Records (eMAR) and Electronic Health Records (EHR) humming along. She greatly enjoys working with the elderly and says it feels like family here at Weatherly Inn! Outside of work, Milcah enjoys singing and traveling.

Alison Wentz was born in the Midwest (Sioux Falls, SD) and then moved out West (Tacoma, WA) as a child with her family. Her first job in high school was as a waitress at a senior living community. (Little did she know how life would circle back around!) After high school, she attended Washington State University in Pullman, WA, where she earned a degree in Business Administration and Marketing. She was hired as one of our Community Relations Directors at Weatherly Inn Tacoma in 2015 and then transitioned to Community Relations Director at Weatherly Inn Renton in 2021 (which opened its doors in 2023). She was promoted to Marketing Director over all our communities in 2022. You may not know but she is an event planner extraordinaire, and our White Christmas and Merry Markets, Open Air Markets, anniversary celebrations, and many more of our special events have greatly benefited from her skills and her passion. What she loves most about her job is that she knows she is making a positive difference in the lives of our residents every day. In her free time, Alison enjoys spending time with friends and traveling with family.

Jenn Miller grew up as the daughter of an active duty US Air Force serviceman which took her father and her family around the nation: Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Alaska, Kansas, North Dakota, South Dakota, California, Texas, Montana, Nevada, and Washington. She found something to enjoy about each and every state and says, “The rain in the Pacific Northwest doesn’t even bother me!” Jenn came to Weatherly Inn in 2020 and oversees the accounting department for all of our communities while also being the hands-on bookkeeper for Weatherly Inn Renton. She manages monthly financial reporting, annual budgeting, and participates in ongoing company-wide projects. Jenn finds inspiration in Weatherly Inn’s motto, “Where it’s home and you’re family!” and how it truly reflects the compassion the staff has toward residents and their families and the support they receive from each other. Watching the residents age gracefully in the comfort of Weatherly Inn gives her a sense of pride and contentment in her position.
